 The current generation of young men and women are growing up in a completely different culture than children even several years ago. The youth of today are developing in an age engrossed by technology. The number of televisions per household is increasing each year. Hence, televisions are becoming more accessible to everyone. Music Television, MTV, is one of the most watched television channels by younger viewers. In recent years, television, specifically MTV, has undergone major changes. MTV has completely diverted from its original core, music programming. Reality television replaced music content and continues to amplify in the amount of programs on MTV. It is important to recognize the alterations that are occurring within television. These changes between the type of television programming and reality TV shows on MTV can be directly seen as having an affect on American culture. People are becoming tired of their boring everyday lives. They want the fantasy life portrayed through reality television. As a result, young viewers do not care think about issues and the dangers of the real world anymore. Sexual and irresponsible behavior is becoming more and more evident each year. Consequently, morals once held dear by people are now be pushed from the norm of society. Except, according to MTV, society is doing just fine the way it is. The purpose of this blog is to explain that through MTV and its reality TV shows one can see the current status of American culture.
